Set it up in three steps

Add it to your home screenOpen zeropercentapp.com/me in Chrome, tap the menu, then Add to home screen (or Install app). It opens like an app, straight to where you left off.
Turn on notificationsIn Settings, turn on notifications and allow them when your browser asks. You then hear about join requests, backup contacts confirming and anything else the iPhone app would tell you.
Set your ZeroPercent PINYour ZeroPercent PIN, with your number and date of birth, is how a rescue knows it's you. Set it on the Me tab. Then add two or more backup contacts, because one person might not pick up.

What you get

The same as the iPhone app, apart from the limits below.

Join a planGot an invite link or code? Join from your browser, whether the family was set up on an iPhone or on the web. Under 16s join this way, and the adult(s) who run your family approve them.

Start and run a family16 or over, you can start a family with nobody on iPhone: one code for everyone, say yes to each person, make admins, remove people.

Backup contactsAdd the people you'd want to reach. They get a link to confirm once, and don't need the app or an account.

Being reachedPeople on your plan can reach you if their phone dies. You choose, person by person, in Settings.

Rescue sign-inPhone dead or lost? Borrow any phone, go to zeropercentapp.com, tap Phone died? Reach your people now, and sign in with your number, date of birth and PIN.

The code wordThe adult(s) who run your family can set a code word, so a message from a borrowed phone can be trusted.

Honest limits

Battery sharing needs the iPhone app. The web doesn't report your battery, so the adult(s) who run your family won't see your level or get a low battery alert for you. Only admins ever see battery levels.
Pro is bought in the iPhone app. For now you can only upgrade to Pro from an iPhone. A family run only from the web stays on the free plan until Pro comes to the web.
Notifications need your browser's permission. If you say no, or clear your browser's site data, you won't get them until you turn them on again in Settings.

Questions

Is this a cut-down version?

No. Accounts, plans, backup contacts and rescues are the same ones the iPhone app uses. A family can mix iPhone and Android freely. The one gap for now: upgrading to Pro needs an iPhone.

Do the people I add need anything?

No. Backup contacts confirm once on our website. People on your plan can use the iPhone app or this page.

What if my phone dies?

Borrow one, open zeropercentapp.com and tap Phone died? Reach your people now. Sign out before you hand it back.

Does it work on other phones and tablets?

Yes. Any up-to-date browser works. Notifications depend on the browser allowing them.

Will there be an Android app?

Maybe. Email [email protected] with "ANDROID" in the subject. It's how we'll decide.
